Project Scope: Merch Design / Brand Design
Client: Teofimo Lopez
During my time freelancing in Seoul, I was contacted by an experienced boxing official and Navy vet, Jorge, who represented a young American-Honduran boxing prodigy named Teofimo Lopez. Being an enthusiast of combat sports, I had never heard of Teofimo at the time. Jorge had convinced me that this young boxing stud with a 7-0 pro record has a bright future, and mentioned that they wanted some graphics designed for upcoming fights and promotion. This type of project really excited me and of course I happily accepted.
As Teofimo continued to climb up the rankings (in extraordinary fashion), I designed merch and various graphic promo for his fights and media scrums which eventually dictated a lot of his branding going forward.
On December 14, 2019 at Madison Square Garden, NYC, Teofimo scored a second-round knockout to become the IBF Lightweight Champion of the world. His victory train didn't stop there as he scored one of boxing's biggest upset victories against the feared Vasily Lomachenko, to capture not one, but two championship belts. On this night, Teofimo showed the world who he was, and I'm proud to play a part in this incredible story. My designs can be seen throughout Teofimo's rise to victory.
To make a long story shorter, I have an ongoing relationship with Teofimo’s representatives and production team, FTWR Brand of California, where we continue to collaborate on relevant, dynamic graphics and merchandise to represent this up-and-coming boxing star.
