Project Scope: Logo and Graphics
Client: SPIN NYC — Ping Pong Lounge
Studio: Sovereign State
SPIN NYC celebrated their 10 year anniversary with a bang. Upon attaining some serious clout in the entertainment and hospitality industry, SPIN has also earned its credibility in the professional table tennis world by assembling tournaments and events with world champions as headliners. Having opened up multiple clubs across North America and growing over the last decade, The original SPIN NYC location had every right to celebrate their 10 years of hard work and success.
With Sovereign State being the principal design partner for SPIN global, I was assigned to take this project on from nose to tail. The brief was to design a simple, memorable logo to celebrate 10 years of SPIN. This graphic would be seen across their marketing collateral, various apparel executions and through a myriad of social media applications. No pressure, right?
As usual, it was concept sketching to start. Mathieu, SPIN’s Artistic Director had stated that they wanted the graphic to be simple, memorable and versatile. Getting to know the SPIN brand over time, we knew that each club operated a little differently, and had its own vibe, all while maintaining the brand essence. The graphic direction we pursued was a dynamic, playful and clean mark that could hold its own as a solid logo, and also act as a framing device for multiple executions like gifs, video, graphics, etc. Upon the completion of this project, SPIN proudly ran and produced multiple expressions of this logo, and currently uses it as their main Instagram page photo.
